The MyShelter foundation established by Illac Diaz has developed the 'Isang Litrong Liwanag' project which translates to 'A Liter of Light'. This sustainable light project setup in the Philippines, ingeniously uses a solar bottle bulb created from the same plastic soft drink bottles we discard on an everyday basis.
Volunteers help install the solar light bulbs into homes that still live in the dark and in just about an hour the installation is complete. To support 'Isang Litrong Liwanag' head over to their website.
Isang Litrong Liwanag (A Liter of Light), is a sustainable lighting project which aims to bring the eco-friendly Solar Bottle Bulb to disprivileged communities nationwide. Designed and developed by students from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), the Solar Bottle Bulb is based on the principles of Appropriate Technologies – a concept that provides simple and easily replicable technologies that address basic needs in developing communities.
