John Carter - Dir. Andrew Stanton [TED Talk, Sound Profile, Poster]

I recently saw the the new Disney film John Carter on the big screen. I had high expectations for the film because it was director Andrew Stanton's first foray into live action, already having directed some great animated films over at Pixar (WALL-E, Finding Nemo). I came out of the cinema a bit disappointed, visually the world they created was stunning, but for me personally I found it hard to follow some of the narrative at times. The film itself isn't doing so great at the box office but I'm hoping it picks up, mainly because I'd like to see the director make some more live action films in the future.

Even though I wasn't quite blown away by the film as I'd hope I would, I'm still fascinated at the steps taken to create the world of John Carter. The director Andrew Stanton gave a great talk at TED and Soundworks Collection have produced another top notch video about the sound and music of the film. Not to be outdone is the beautiful poster JC Richards created for the IMAX release of the film in collaboration with MONDO.
