The Brooklyn Nets are an NBA team part owned by Jay-Z and they have just recently unveiled their new team branding to the world. The new identity is said to be inspired by the subway signage that existed in New York City, 1957. The logo designed by Jay-Z features a clean black and white aesthetic which does make it stand out from the pack with its overall stark appearance.
I actually don't mind the simplistic approach with the branding and its application on merchandise. I think it's more in the logo itself and the way they treated the "NETS" text that doesn't quite sit well with me. Either way it's something different and it'll be interesting to see how much traction the new identity gets with old and new fans for the 2012-13 season.
